LYB Inclement Weather Policy

Cold Weather:

Mon-Fri, LYB Board of Directors will review the forecast for that evening by 4pm. If the temperature is forecasted to be below 40 degrees, LYB will cancel outdoor practices for that evening.  (AccuWeather RealFeel will be used)

Sat-Sun, LYB Board of Directors will review the forecast the evening before by 8am. If the temperatures are below 40 degrees, LYB will cancel outdoor practices.

Note: It is possible to cancel practices only in the evening or only in the morning depending on the temperatures throughout the day.

Rain:

The City of Lebanon will close the fields during periods of rain depending on how much water the fields have taken.  They will update the Inclement Weather line when necessary by 4pmMonday – Friday.

During the weekends, the LYB Board of Directors will communicate field closures by 8 am if there is overnight rain.

Note: The LYB Board of Directors and Team Managers will monitor field conditions throughout the week and on weekends as rain intensifies.  If and when field conditions deteriorate to the point that they become a safety hazard to our players, closures will be communicated via email and social media.

Note: The Inclement Weather Call-In Line is 513-228-3111

Lightning/ Tornadoes:

When lightning and/or tornado warnings are in the Lebanon area, it will be the decision of the umpire and/or managers to decide if it safe to play as these events can change moment to moment.

There could be times when the city or LYB cancels events ahead of time due to imminent warnings in the area. All games/practices will be stopped when the lighting siren sounds.

Activity may resume after the all clear buzzer sounds when lightning is no longer detected.

Heat:

Practice or competition in hot and humid environmental conditions poses special problems for student athletes. Heat stress and resulting heat illness is a primary concern in these conditions. Although deaths from heat illness are rare, constant surveillance and education are necessary to prevent heat-related problems. The following practices should be observed.

Unrestricted access to water at all times. Asthmatic athletes may remove themselves from workout without penalties or repercussions.

Heat index of:

• < 95 degrees: No Restrictions
• 95 - 99 degrees: 15 min. of exposure = 5 min break
• 100 - 104 degrees: 15 min. exposure = 15 min. breaks
• > 104 degrees: No outdoor activity
